Table Tennis Balls

Table Tennis requires the use of a ball, a few rackets, a net, a table and perhaps, some cleaning accessories for a successful game. There are different types of each due to many manufacturers to suit the skill and preference of the players. Finding the one that is best for you could help you with your game and allow you to become better.

Ball

The ball used in table tennis is made from a plastic or celluloid and is hollow. It is about 40mm [1.5’’] in diameter and weighs 2.5g. The standard colour is white or orange but the colour should not matter as long as you can see it clearly when playing with it.

These balls have a rating system in numbers of stars which are stamped on them to denote their quality. The number of stars range from one to three where three is the best and can be very expensive, costing around $1 a ball. A three-star ball is the regulation ball used in all tournaments because they are the most dependable and can last a long time if they are treated properly.

To keep your balls in good condition store it in a nice cool place away from direct sunlight, and too much heat and dampness. Make sure to pick them up if they fall to the ground so that they are not stepped on accidentally.
